As an active ingredient, it is mainly used as an antacid to neutralize excess gastric acid and relieve heartburn and indigestion.

1 Description It occurs as fine, white, odorless, tasteless, microcrystalline powder.
2 Identification
Test (A)
(A) It gives the reaction of calcium.
3 Solubility It is practically insoluble in water. Its solubility in water is increased by the presence of any ammonium salt or of carbon dioxide. The presence of any alkali hydroxide reduces its solubility. Insoluble in alcohol.
4 Acid-Insoluble Substances Not more than 0.2%.
5 Arsenic Not more than 3 ppm.
6 Barium A platinum wire, dipped in the filtrate obtained in the test for Acid Insoluble Substances and held in a nonluminous flame, does not impart a green color.
7 Iron Not more than 0.1%.
8 Lead Not more than 3 ppm.
9 Limit Of Fluoride Not more than 50 ppm.
10 Limit Of Magnesium And Alkali Salts Not more than 1.0%.
11 Mercury Not more than 0.5 ppm.
12 Loss On Drying It loses not more than 2.0% of its weight.
13 Assay Not more than 98.0% to not less than 100.5% on the dried basis.

PACKAGING

MOLCAL™ CAR is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 5 years. Preserve in well-closed containers.
